Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 years of age or older. You are automatically enrolled in Part A and Part B coverage. You may choose not to elect Part B coverage as well as choosing to enroll in some of the other plans. On top of that, Medicare pays for much of your health care, but not all of it. Some of the costs not covered could be prescription drugs, deductibles, and coinsurance. Your premium is automatically deducted out or your Social Security income.
